The words of this blog are powerful and many true. However, I do believe there is a difference between government handouts to the poor and elderly ("weak") and empowering the weak. Helping those in need is more than just temporary relief or the government's job. It's the job of the body of Christ--the community of Christ. It's about long term development and empowerment of individuals within a community. It's also about developing and building relationships with them.
