Mission

He has showed you what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.
– Micah 6:8

Mika Community Development Corporation exists to identify and equip leaders in low-income neighborhoods to build communities with VISION.

Communities of VISION demonstrate the following outcomes:

  • Vision: neighbors share and agree on a desired future for their community.
  • Interdependent Relationships with God and Each Other: neighbors support one another in all facets of life: spiritually, emotionally, socially and economically.
  • Servant Leadership: leaders are committed to serve first, listen, trust, collaborate, and empower other neighbors to serve effectively.
  • Impact: neighbors identify, design, fund, manage and evaluate sustainable initiatives that transform their community.
  • Organization: neighbors have established efficient and effective local systems and structures to reach their shared goals and vision.
  • Networks: neighbors collaborate with public and private partners from inside and outside the community to maximize the impact of their initiatives.

To accomplish this mission Mika CDC:

  • Identifies and equips neighborhood leaders to establish effective neighborhood action committees.
  • Identifies and trains young leaders to participate actively in the transformation of their neighborhood.
  • Coaches leaders and committees to identify, design, fund, manage and evaluate sustainable neighborhood initiatives.
  • Develops church partnerships to collaborate with neighborhood leaders and committees to transform their community.
  • Links local neighborhood action committees to outside resources to develop effective initiatives.
