Purpose

The purpose of Mika’s Volunteer Department is to offer opportunities to act, love and walk within the community of Costa Mesa.  As an extension of our mission and vision, our volunteers play an important role in how we serve our community. Volunteers represent Mika in the neighborhoods and programs they serve, and the relationships developed are the key element to transformation in our city.

Goals

  • To build friendship and community with those living in the neighborhood and those living outside of the neighborhood.
  • To link individuals from the surrounding community and local churches together in order to be effective agents of change.
  • To create an environment where neighbors and volunteers are serving together.
  • To provide an adequate environment for service to our volunteers, characterized by healthy, suitable expectations, as well as room for personal and communal growth.

Procedure

  • Attend a Volunteer Orientation (see below for upcoming dates)
  • Download volunteer forms and submit by email or mail them to our office address located at the bottom of the application
  • Schedule a visit to Mika’s office or program site for an interview and tour
  • Visit a Live Scan location to be fingerprinted before volunteering begins
